Browned Butter Chocolate Chip Banana Bread

Pregnancy cravings have been driving a lot of our experiments with food lately. I have been craving banana bread for a while now but never had the ingredients at the same time as the energy to be able to make some. Not to long ago I decided that I was making myself banana bread and that was the end of it. Off to Pinterest I went to find an especially tasty recipe. I found so many different variations it made poor HD cry. I eventually ended up at the blog of Six Sisters’ Stuff and stumbled upon a recipe from them for a browned butter version. Check out the link for the recipe! The only change I made was to add chocolate chips and I made a frosting to go on top.

Wet ingredients

I don’t have a good picture of browning the butter as I wasn’t that handy with swirling the butter and taking a picture at the same time. I will say that the process didn’t work out as expected. I may have been doing something wrong but it cooked off more liquid than I expected and took three times as long as I expected to get it a noticeable change in color. That very well may be how it is supposed to go. This was my first try at making browned butter after all. Now that I know how to do it we might try to make some pasta that way!

 

Strawberry Cream Cheese Frosting

 

Now the frosting top I made was very simple. Cream cheese, milk, and powdered sugar all mixed together. What made this stuff over the top was that I used strawberry cream cheese. No I can’t tell you the amounts. I think it was half a tub of cream cheese, a couple tablespoons of milk and a cup of powdered sugar.

 

 

 

The resulting combination was deliciousness. I couldn’t wait for it to cool down to have some. I had a piece with butter….
