Isn’t it always so much fun to get surprise mail?! Especially in the middle of a super stressful week? I had signed up to be a reviewer for a company a few weeks back but never heard anything back from them and so thought that I hadn’t grown my blog large enough yet, to be considered. Receiving product from them was one of the best surprises because it was nail lacquer! I did receive this product for free to review on the blog. However, all opinions are my own honest opinion.
Contained in my envelope of happiness was three full sized bottles of polish and a couple informational sheets. These bottles are part of their newest collection Summer Mixtape. One thing they did say was that all their blog reviewers received a different variety of colors so if you want to see what other colors were sent out and what people thought be sure to look up the Rainbow Honey Facebook page and on Instagram. If you like anything you see or want to check out more about the company head on over to the website. The Summer Mixtape colors will be available on July 18, 2014 and if you use promo code MIXTAPE20, by August 31, 2014, you can receive 20% off your order.
Rainbow Honey started out as a small shop on Etsy and have grown over the last couple years. I love the names of their collections Neon Graffiti, Midnight Gardens, Sweet Talk, Galaxy and several more. They are all creative and seem to be a good representation of the colors in that collection. Rainbow Honey is made in the US and free of Formaldehyde, Toluene, and Dibutyl Phthalate (the big 3). I do wish that they were big 5 free but some are better than none!
I was a little iffy on the shade waves but decided to try that one out because I had just worn a color similar to stolen dance last week. It took around 4 coats to get the coverage that I prefer but those layers went on easy and even. I am absolutely THRILLED with how it turned out looking on me as well. It is one of my new favorite colors. In a late night moment of inspiration I used best friend as my top coat, mostly because I forgot to grab my top coat, and got a nice playful look to my nails. The confetti pieces were a little sparse with only one coat but I am confident that with the two or three coats you would get a nice confetti layer. These polishes have, so far, held up very well. I fell asleep before I was able to finish my right hand and didn’t have time to complete it before a long day trip out into the wilderness. The single layer of polish held up just as well as the hand that had four to five layers.
When I looked closer at stolen dance and was putting it on my toes, I realized that stolen dance has a light shimmer to it. It is a minty green color with a nice purple shimmer if you look at it just right. These are not all colors I would have picked on my own so I definitely went outside my comfort zone to try these colors and am glad that I did! I have some new favorite colors now!!
