Spaghetti Sauce

The best way to do this is to let it simmer in a crock pot all day. I’m talking 6-8 hours. However if you don’t have that much time then letting it simmer on the stove for 30 or so minutes will work as well.  This is something that I learned from my own mommy. I believe she learned it from her Daddy. This probably is a little bit of a family recipe so feel free to add or omit various things to suit your taste buds.

Ingredients

  • 1 large can of tomato sauce
  • 1 can diced tomatoes
  • 1 small can of tomato paste
  • 1 small can of mushrooms
  • 1/4 pound browned ground beef
  • 3 bay leaves
  • sugar to taste
  • oregano
  • thyme
  • basil
  • garlic
  • onion
  • NOTE: the seasonings are all to taste unless otherwise noted

Directions

Dump everything  into a pot or slow cooker and let the flavors blend. When using a cooker do not add the ground beef until 30-45 minutes before you are ready to serve. Before serving remove the bay leaves as they can cause a bitter flavor if left in too long.

 

That’s it! Serve over noodles or use in lasagna and enjoy! Oh dear, was that too easy? Another idea for the sauce is to add sliced olives to it. I have memories of my dad eating his sauce with olives added to it. I know other people who like to add diced peppers to theirs
