What’s In My Makeup Bag?

It has been a long journey for me and my make up bag. There have been several changes and adjustments along the way. We feel pretty comfortable with what is in my make up bag now so I thought I would talk about what is in my bag. Actually bags. I don’t have a bag big enough to fit what I have. That just goes to show that all my bags are pretty small because I don’t have a lot.

First is primer. I use two different primers one for my face and one for my eyes specifically. For my face I have been testing out Naked BB Cream. I also tried Smashbox Photo Finish Light but my kids lost what was left of that pot. I do like the Naked primer and the tint it gives but not at the price point. I liked the Smashbox a little less than the Naked because of the different feeling it left on my face. We decided to go for something a little more affordable. So I have NYX Photo Loving Primer Anti-Redness to start using soon. I also chose NYX for the eye shadow base. We chose to go with the natural color instead of white. I’m loving the eye shadow base as much as the Mary Kay one I had tried out. There is a small price difference so I get what is most readily available.

What foundation to use has been the biggest journey for me. Matching my color and then deciding on powder or liquid. This should be a simple process. Should be but it’s not. I have ended with using bareMinerals bearSkin in Bare Linen. It does feel a little oily on my combination skin but I love how it goes on and how it feels compared to everything else I have tried. I tried the drug store brands in the past and was never very pleased with them.

I don’t use bronzer or blush or highlighters or anything else along those lines. I do use eyeshadow, liner, and mascara. For shadow I love using loose powder eye shadows but those are hard to find. In my Ecocentric Mom box I was introduced to Orglamix cosmetics. I instantly fell in love. They have a good selection of colors that are bright a vibrant and goes on beautifully. They do have a bit of sparkle in them but really the company is amazing and I can’t say enough good things about them.

There is a secret I have to tell you. If I could marry eyeliner, I would. I am obsessed with it. I don’t know what it is about eyeliner that has captured my heart but it has. There are three brands of eyeliner that I currently have but I am eyeing two more brands to pick up at some point. Chella is one that I received in an Ipsy bag when I was getting it. This eyeliner was in Indigo blue and went on so easy. I fell in love with the color. This was another of the few products I wanted to purchase after getting them in a bag. The next love of mine is Physician’s Formula. I have the purple one as I gave the other colors to my sister-in-law. These are what I looked into when we discovered that I have very sensitive eyes and we weren’t sure what products I could use. My latest trip into Ulta introduced me to another brand that I had never heard of before. I also fell in love with one of the colors and ended up getting it. Mally beauty Evercolor Starlight Waterproof Eyeliner in Pink Champagne. This color is absolutely gorgeous. I also didn’t have a light colored eyeliner so this will be a good one to have. The two brands that I can’t wait to get a hold of are Stilla and Urban Decay.

For Mascara I have to be extremely careful. This is the one product to cause my eyes the most problems without including cleansers and make up removers. I had tried, what felt like, every single brand of mascara possible. Then I went into Sephora and tried all brands there. The closest I came to finding one was Blinc. I could wear that brand for several hours before having to take it off. I have ended up using Physician’s Formula organic mascara but I am not extremely happy with it. For me the application is a little difficult and doesn’t make my lashes look the best but it is the only one I can wear for close to 6 hours before having problems.

For lips I wear glosses and sheer colors. I don’t wear lipstick. Period. End of story. Burt’s Bees tinted lip balm and lip shimmer are what I use right now. They are easy to find and keep my lips nice and soft with just a hint of color. I couldn’t ask for much more.

What do are your go to products? Is there something you reach for more than anything else?
