Autism: Service Dog Postponed

Life has struck again. After all the painful fundraising and waiting to be able to meet BigM’s service dog it won’t be happening soon like it was supposed to. The perfectly aligned stars and planets turned out to be fireflies in a jar that was just given a rather sudden and rough shake. A few absolutely amazing people came together to try and make the trip still happen but in the end the CEO of 4 Paws for Ability and I agreed that postponing the trip was in the best interest of our family and the dog.

What does this mean for BigM? He is still on the list to receive a service dog from 4 Paws. I am not sure when we will be placed back in a class but that is my choice not 4 Paws. They were amazing and offered to get us into the very next class in May. Right now I am not able to evaluate when we might be able to line things up to go to class again. To be honest I am not doing good and need to get through a few other more immediate problems first, all while making sure to keep baby baking for as long as possible.

To this day I would still highly recommend 4 Paws for Ability for veterans and children needing diabetic or seizure alert dogs or those with autism or other similar diagnosis who could benefit from a service dog. They are a great organization to donate to and have helped so many families. This upcoming class will include the 1000th dog match.
